When there’s something strange in the neighborhood, who you gonna call? Well, this time NOT Ghostbusters because it’s just some guy pretending to be a ghost.
In a story that’s just plain NOT spooky, Anthony Stallard was arrested in Portsmouth, England and charged with using threatening or abusive words or behavior likely to cause distress.
Translation: he was pretending to be a ghost in a cemetery…like you do. Just kidding! No one does that because it’s super weird.
He apparently had been drinking when he went to Kingston Cemetery with a friend, and proceeded to allegedly kick a soccer ball at graves. It’s not like there are parks for that or anything!
If that wasn’t completely disrespectful enough, he started making ghostly noises nearby to where people were actually visiting graves.
According to prosecutor Tom Concannon, he wasn’t exactly a convincing ghost either:
“He was throwing himself backwards, waving his arms about and going ‘wooooooo.’ I├óΓé¼Γäóm assuming he was pretending to be a ghost.”
We say “boo” to his actions.
However, Anthony has since accepted the fact that his behavior was really uncalled for, especially with people grieving at the site, and he plead guilty.
As a result, and because he was already subject to a 12-month conditional discharge and was in breach of a suspended sentence, he was fined £35, and made to pay a £20 victim surcharge and £20 in court costs.
Now, his suspended sentence is 15 months instead of a year. We sincerely hope he learned his lesson.
