Man Says He Killed Girlfriend In Self Defense After Detecting 'High Reading Of Paranormal Activity' Nearby!

A Pennsylvania man is facing first-degree murder charges for allegedly shooting his girlfriend to death. But his motive is… hard to get your head around.

According to multiple media reports from the town of Sunbury, PA, 46-year-old Jared Wolfe (pictured above in his mugshot) was with his girlfriend Jane A. White at a friend’s house getting high one night early last month. The two were smoking marijuana with pals when, for some reason, Jared became convinced his life was in danger.

Per court documents cited by the Daily Item, Wolfe pulled out a “paranormal meter” and went to check a statue for “energy.” The meter reportedly “received a high reading of paranormal activity,” which scared Wolfe. In that moment, the docs noted, he told cops that he believed he might be killed by his pals after mistakenly thinking one of his friends was trying to put a white rag with something on it over his mouth.

Why would his girlfriend and friends kill him? To eat him, obviously. In the arrest affidavit, Sunbury cops also wrote Wolfe believed he was about to be eaten:

“Wolfe stated he thought that Jane White (and the friends) were all trying to kill him and eat him, so he panicked and ran out of the house to retrieve his handgun from his vehicle.”

Wolfe allegedly admitted to cops that he ran to his car, grabbed a gun, and loaded a round into the chamber. White had followed Wolfe to his car to see what was wrong — and when she opened the front passenger door, he fired a shot in her direction. Sadly, by the time paramedics arrived, White was dead from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Right after the shooting, Wolfe got behind the wheel of the car and drove to his brother’s house. Per PennLive, the man told his brother what had happened — with the gun still in his hand. His brother called the cops, and officers arrested Wolfe without further incident.

When cops took Wolfe into custody for questioning, he told them he’d fired upon his girlfriend in “self defense.” That said, per the News-Item, he also allegedly admitted to interrogators that he didn’t see his girlfriend holding any kind of weapon when she opened the car door second before her death. Even worse, he reportedly said that he was “too messed up” from the drugs to help her after the shooting, so he chose instead to leave the scene and drive off.

Wolfe is now facing the first-degree murder charge, along with four other felony charges: third-degree murder, third-degree carrying a firearm without a license, first-degree aggravated assault, and second-degree aggravated assault. Cops have also charged him with multiple misdemeanors — second-degree simple assault and recklessly endangering another person — per the News-Item.

Currently, Wolfe is being held in Northumberland County Jail on all those charges without bail. According to PennLive, along with the “self defense” remark he initially told cops, he reportedly plans to pursue a mental health defense in court. Yeah, makes sense…

Such a sad, awful, and unnecessary tragedy. Ugh.
