Mandy Moore Reveals 'Survivor's Guilt' After Her House Is The Only One 'Still Standing' On Her Street

Mandy Moore is still reeling from the devastating fires that have completely rocked large parts of Los Angeles and its environs.

The former A Walk To Remember star is one of far too many folks in the El Lay area who has seen their homes and all their possessions go up in smoke after devastating wildfires exacerbated by extremely high winds rocked SoCal over the last few days.

On Thursday, the This Is Us star delivered another heartbreaking update. As it turns out, the home she shares with husband Taylor Goldsmith and their children is not completely burned to the ground. In fact, it’s the only house on their block in the LA suburb of Altadena that isn’t. Whoa.

In an Instagram post about that, Moore revealed that the “main part” of the family’s house is still standing, though they’ve lost pretty much everything else:

“We were able to park and walk up our street to bear witness to all the loss. Miraculously, the main part of our house is still standing. For now. It’s not livable but mostly intact. We lost Taylor and griffin’s studio with every instrument and piece of equipment they’ve ever owned. We lost our garage and back house.”

Then, she explained how the rest of the block has been completely wiped out to the point where she is “feeling weird survivors guilt” because their home is the only one that’s not entirely gone:

“Everyone we know lost everything. Every house on our street is gone. My in laws. My brother and sister in law- 6 weeks from welcoming their first baby. Our best friends. Feeling weird survivors guilt. We love this community and will do everything we can to help rebuild and support. Thanks for everyone for checking on us and offering us help. Altadena strong.”

We can’t even imagine, honestly. You can see some of the shocking photos (below):

So sad…

A few hours later, Mandy returned to IG to share an update about her even more unfortunate brother- and sister-in-law, who are expecting a child in “a matter of weeks” and just saw everything they own go up in flames:

“Yesterday, my brother-in-law and sister-in-law Griff & Kit lost their home and everything they own in the Eaton Fire. With their first baby on the way in a matter of weeks, they need our support now more than ever. Griff is a touring musician and also lost his entire arsenal of drums/percussion he uses to make a living. It’s all so much. So many have asked how to help during this unimaginable and stressful time… Please consider donating and sharing to help them rebuild.”

The 40-year-old then went on to criticize commenters who lashed out at her for asking for money for her family to rebuild:

“People questioning whether we’re helping out our own family or attributing some arbitrary amount of money google says someone has is NOT helpful or empathetic. Of course we are. Our buddy Matt started this go fund me and i’m sharing because people have asked how they can help them. We just lost most of our life in a fire too. Kindly F OFF. no one is forcing you to do anything.”

(BTW, based on the associated GoFundMe fundraiser page on the issue, “our buddy Matt” in Mandy’s comment would appear to Matthew Koma — AKA Hilary Duff‘s husband.)

As of late Thursday night, that GoFundMe had raised more than $117,000 — and the total is climbing quickly.
