DAYUM GIRL!!
Maria Menounos is looking VERY beautiful on the cover of Shape Magazine and she isn’t just bringing the looks: She also has some fabulous tips on her mind about getting everyone to look just as good as she does!
And they’re a lot simpler to put into action than one may think! Plus there are only eight, so they shouldn’t be TOO hard to remember either!
Here are some of the tips that she provided to the mag:
“DITCH THE DEPRIVATION: My goal is to be healthy, not skinny├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥and the best way to achieve that is to not diet. You’re just set- ting yourself up for failure when you’re in that mind- set. The moment you cave and have something you’re not supposed to eat, you’ll want to quit the whole plan. I always tell people to begin with small changes. For exam- ple, if you love an egg and cheese sandwich, start by eating it open-faced. You still get the flavor, but with less bread and fewer calories.”
Another tip that Maria had was encouraging us all to ditch the meat, and snack solely on the veggies! She said:
“EAT FROM THE GROUND: I’ve always felt a bit of a contradiction saying I loved animals yet eating meat, so I became a vegetarian. I thought it was going to be really hard and I’d be banging my head against a wall, but that’s not the case at all. I have more energy and I’m much happier├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥I never would have expected that!”
Another way to look and feel great is by getting plenty of sleep! Which is harder than it sometimes should be. Luckily for the world, Maria’s got a plan to help us all get a full night’s rest! She said:
“HIT SNOOZE: I love to sleep, but getting eight hours can be challenging. I’ve discovered two apps that really help: White Noise, which features ambient sounds, and iSleep Easy, which contains guided meditations. I also recommend an eye mask and lavender oil. I put a drop on each wrist and on my pillow, and it truly takes me away.”
So much information, so little time! Good thing we have some more of her tips for y’all right here! And if you want a sweet workout exclusively from Maria herself, you should grab the October issue of Shape!

“SLACK OFF (sometimes):When I can’t make it to the gym, I try to do little fitness things throughout my day, like taking the stairs. I was in the Bahamas on vacation recently, and it was too gor- geous outside to be stuck on a treadmill. So I snuck my fitness in by doing squats and lunges while I brushed my teeth in the morning, going for long walks, and swimming laps in the ocean.
BEFRIEND YOUR SCALE: Last year, right after the holidays, I was going through a difficult time, and I noticed my weight started creeping up beyond my normal 5-pound margin. And I was like, ├óΓé¼╦£Oh, hell no! I am not going to gain back those 40 pounds!’ I told myself that fitting into my jeans and feeling healthy was more important than drinking a strawberry daiquiri. I committed to the gym for two weeks straight and made some small but effective changes to my meal plan, like eliminating alcohol and downsizing my portions. I knew I had to reset my body fast and jolt it back on track.
STEP IT UP: The easiest way to get exercise into your day is with a wearable fit-tracker. I always aim for 10,000 steps per day, but if you’re just starting out, you may only hit 5,000. Once you get into the habit, you accumulate more and more without even realizing you’re working out.
BE BRAVE: For years I was terrified of having kids. I was afraid I’d love them so much, I’d stop working completely. That all changed after I took a seminar with [motivational speaker] Tony Robbins. It was an absolutely game-changing, life-altering experience. I had a pro- found, hysterical crying moment where I realized I was going to miss out on this enormous amount of love, all because of fear. Now I’m finally ready to have children. How about that?
TAKE THE LONG VIEW: I see health as a journey, not a destination. It’s ever-changing because if you’re not growing you’re dying├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥in every area of your life. My goal is to always move toward being better.”
