What a sweet surprise! It must have meant so much to her!
Mary J. Blige was treated a surprise 40th birthday party by her husband Martin Kendu Isaacs Tuesday night, and the singer was reportedly so shocked that she was reduced to tears!
During the desert-themed celebration at Skylight West in NYC – with celebrities like Jay-Z, Beyonc├â┬⌐, and Gayle King in attendance – Blige’s idol, Anita Baker, even made a surprise musical appearance, and the birthday girl even got to join in!
A source explains:
“They brought in palm trees and sand. Mary J. said [that] growing up in the projects she was lost, and owes her life to being inspired by the song ‘Caught Up in the Rapture‘ by Anita Baker. Anita got up to toast her and started to sing the song. Mary J. began crying and joined in.”
That sounds like an absolute dream come true!
We can’t even imagine how thrilled she must have been to be surrounding by friends with whom to share that experience!
