Valerie Harper‘s terminal brain cancer diagnosis is getting sadder by the minute.
Earlier today, we announced that the Rhoda icon only had three months to live after her doctors determined that she had incurable cancer, and now, her BFF on and off the screen, Mary Tyler Moore is reacting to Valerie’s terminal condition.
The 76-year-old actress underwent surgery two years ago for a benign tumor in the protective membrane around the brain, which is the same exact spot where Harper’s cancer cells are situated.
Saddened about Valerie’s diagnosis, Mary said:
“I’m absolutely devastated by this news. Valerie has given so much joy, laughter and love to the world. I join her fans and send much love and positive thoughts to her and her family during this difficult time.”
Before Miz Harper went public with her condition, she called Miz Moore to let her know about her incurable disease, and even though it was heartbreaking to talk about the illness, the 73-year-old starlet revealed that Mary said just take everything “One day at a time,” adding:
“That’s how we’ve got to live our lives. That’s the best we can do.”
