Disney Channel Star Matt Prokop Officially Indicted Following Violating Protective Order & Possession Of Child Porn

[Warning: Potentially Triggering Content]

Matt Prokop has officially been charged following his December arrest.

In case you didn’t hear, the disgraced Disney Channel star — who also dated Sarah Hyland for nearly five years — was arrested late last year after an intense run-in with law enforcement. On Christmas Eve cops knocked on his door in Victoria County, Texas following allegations he violated a protective order. He allegedly tried slamming the door in their faces and refused to cooperate. After a bit of a struggle, he was detained and taken into custody.

From there, he was charged with evading arrest and violation of bond conditions. He was also accused of invasive visual recording for allegedly filming a victim in a bathroom without her permission. Most disturbingly, he got a charge of possession of child pornography, with cops alleging he had between 10 to 50 depictions in his possession.

So horrible.

In a newly uncovered report, US Weekly revealed back in March, the 35-year-old was indicted on one first degree felony count of possession of child pornography. Court docs reveal he pled not guilty on March 24.

The filing also detailed a third-degree felony, which was violating bond/protective order more than two times within the last 12 months. Per the docs, a woman named Lucy had a protective order against him. According to a May 2024 arrest, Matt had allegedly assaulted the woman and threatened to “smash [her] skull in”. Horrific.

Back on December 21, 2025, he allegedly broke that protective order and communicated with her “in [a] threatening or harassing manner, namely by telling her in person that he was going to kill her”. Three days later, on the day he was arrested, he allegedly sent her “sexually explicit pictures, picture[s] of the hotel she was staying at and continuous text messaging and calling after she asked him to stop”.

Sadly, this sounds all too similar to his ex Sarah’s stories about her experience with him… Ugh.

This is all so awful to hear. Our heart is with the victims. May they get the justice they deserve.
