Medical Resident Fired After Hospital Discovers Anti-Semitic Social Media Posts

As if we have patience for scrubs like this in 2019…
A former medical resident at the Cleveland Clinic lost her job — and probably her entire future as a medical professional — after her alleged history of writing anti-Semitic posts on social media was exposed.

A woman identified as Lara Kollab (above) was a supervised resident at the Ohio facility from July to September 2018 — until, that is, it was discovered she allegedly wrote horrible things like:

“Yahood,” for those who don’t know, is the Arabic word for Jewish people.
Screenshots of the hateful comments, which dated between 2011 and 2017, were shared on Canary Mission, a website that documents people and groups that “promote hatred of the USA, Israel, and Jews on North American college campuses.”
According to the posts shared on Canary Mission, Kollab called Jewish people “stupid”, professed they have “exaggerated” being victims, and routinely criticized the state of Israel and compared Zionism to the Nazi party.

A post from 2013 read:

“Tell me what makes Israel’s ‘we must remain a Jewish state’ obsession any less disturbing than Hitler’s obsession with a pure white nation.”

A rep for the hospital she worked at told Buzzfeed that Kollab was placed on leave back in September after an unidentified individual brought her messages to hospital officials’ attention.
The Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in New York, where Kollab studied and graduated from, said it was “appalled” by her comments, tweeting:

The State Medical Board of Ohio told the publication that because Kollab was issued a training certificate license in July, losing her position at the Cleveland Clinic means she cannot practice medicine in Ohio. The board explained in a statement:

“While the individual’s training certificate may appear online in ‘active’ status, she does not have the authority to practice in Ohio because she is not part of an accredited program. Malicious acts and threats of patient harm go against the Medical Practices Act and are denounced by the board.”

Looks like a future in medicine probably won’t be happening. Might we suggest looking into the Trump administration?
