Prince Harry and Meghan Markle worked as a team to decide how they would handle King Charles III‘s coronation.
It was officially announced on Wednesday that only the Duke of Sussex will be venturing solo to the UK next month to watch his father and stepmother Queen Camilla be crowned. It’s somewhat of a shocking decision since the Sussexes have very much remained a united front amid their feud with the royals, so why’d they decide to split up now?? There’s need to be left speculating because several sources are now opening up to Page Six about what the couple’s thought process was surrounding this big decision!

On Wednesday, one insider familiar with the family dished:
“The words that Harry and Meghan have said about the importance of their family are lining up with their actions. They care about their family, so Meghan is going to stay [in California] and Harry is going to support his dad.”
Charles’ crowning ceremony will be taking place on Prince Archie’s fourth birthday, which is one of the biggest reasons the Suits alum will be hanging back in the States with her children. It has also been reported that Archie and his little sister Princess Lilibet weren’t formally invited to the coronation (and it’s widely believed they would’ve been too young to attend anyway), so that makes staying at home a lot easier for them.
The insider went on to stress that this was a challenging decision, and one “they made together as a family.” After weeks of mulling over their options, they ultimately decided it would have been “inauthentic” for the 41-year-old to attend. Too much s**t has hit the fan for her to forgive and forget so easily! The source said:
“They had to make a decision that felt genuine and authentic, especially after everything that has been said and all the things that have gone down.”
Harry’s been adamant he wants an apology from his family, particularly for the way they treated the actress. Guess if they’re not going to give one, he’s keeping his wife and kids as far away as possible!

Similarly, the source thinks this decision proves the Archetypes podcast host isn’t “super controlling” of her husband’s life, despite previous reports, insisting:
“If she was super controlling, then she could have made sure that Harry didn’t go. She’s all good, she supports Harry — they both have nothing more to prove.”
According to those in the know, Harry plans to make his trip to London as brief as possible, another confidant explained:
“There is not one right answer. Prince Harry is going to support his dad … and then he’ll be coming home as soon as possible to be with his son.”
The same source also believes this proves the Spare author still wants to be part of the royal family — despite his attempts to create some distance. The insider argued:
“For all the people who say they want to be half in and half out of the royal family, this proves just the opposite.”
That said, it’s not like attending one historic event will mend all the problems in this family, but it is certainly a good step! That said, Harry and Meghan have reportedly moved on from their tumultuous relationship with the royals and are focused on rebuilding their life in California. They explained:
“They have a comfort in California and an optimism in their future. They’re building a future that is in peace with their family in the UK.”
Hmm. They may want “peace” but they are also supposedly in talks with Netflix about new projects. The royals aren’t going to like that! The palace is already worried Harry is going to try to uncover more secrets about the famous fam while he’s attending the coronation!
