Meghan Markle & Prince Harry 'Felt Helpless' Before Jumping Into New Volunteer Work Amid Coronavirus Crisis

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are doing their part!

As we’ve previously shared, the new Angelenos have been spending their time house hunting and volunteering while restrictions are in place in Los Angeles due to the coronavirus, but are making the most of the situation!

An insider explained to People:

“[Meghan and Harry] felt helpless reading about everything going on and wanted to get out and contribute.”

A second source previously shared with the outlet that “they only leave their house for charity work,” and added:

“They spend their evenings at home as a family. They haven’t had any visitors.”

But not to worry! They’ve been super safe while delivering meals to those in need via former presidential candidate Marianne Williamson‘s charity, Project Angel Food. The couple first went on a tour of the facility with Richard Ayoub, the charity’s executive director, prior to their first delivery route. He told People:

“They were interested in every single person they met. They asked a lot of questions about the clients, about how the food is done and how much food is made. We talked about how the meals are medically-tailored and geared towards each client, they met with our chefs and then we gave them all our social distancing protocols for the deliveries and they wore gloves and makes and they kept six feet away.”

Prior to announcing their indefinite Instagram hiatus, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared mental health tips, as well as other posts pertaining to the coronavirus. They penned along with one image:

“With everything going on, it’s a lot to take in. Many of us may feel confused. Or alone, or anxious or scared…and in isolation, some of us may just feel bored, or that you don’t know what to do with yourself without your normal routine. It’s perfectly normal to be feeling any of these things.

Our emotional well-being is challenged everyday whether we realise it or not, but our lives are usually filled with distractions. Now with constantly changing COVID coverage, we are all adjusting to this new normal and the feelings that come with it.

But here’s the good thing (because right now we need to hear good things, right?): Yes, there is isolation and physical distancing, but there doesn’t have to be loneliness.”

Not only does their volunteer work help people, but it gets them engaged with the community. Total win-win!!
