Melania Trump Doubles Down On Abortion -- Donald's Position Is Worse Than You Think!

Melania Trump Abortion Stance Donald Knew

Melania Trump dropped something of an “October surprise” on us last week, when an excerpt of her upcoming memoir revealed she’s pro-choice. And not in a vague, passive way. She is adamantly in favor of a woman’s right to choose what she does with her body.

She wrote:

“It is imperative to guarantee that women have autonomy in deciding their preference of having children, based on their own convictions, free from any intervention or pressure from the government. Why should anyone other than the woman herself have the power to determine what she does with her own body? A woman’s fundamental right of individual liberty, to her own life, grants her the authority to terminate her pregnancy if she wishes.”

Wow. She is fully pro-choice! That’s a bit awkward given that her husband is trying to take away all that “individual liberty” from women. Donald Trump openly bragged about getting Roe v Wade overturned with his Supreme Court picks that were willing to lie and call it “settled law” in their confirmation hearings. And JD Vance is right there with him. They will ban all abortion nationwide if elected, and they’ll also go after IVF. And no joke — there absolutely is a growing element in their movement to repeal the 19th amendment and take away women’s right to vote. Again, this isn’t hyperbolic. This is on their wishlist, you just have to listen.

OK, so what the hell then? How does Donald feel about Melania’s view? In an interview on Fox NewsSunday Morning Futures, she revealed:

“He knew my position and my beliefs since the day we met, and I believe in individual freedom. I want to decide what I want to do with my body. I think, I don’t want government in my personal business.”

Hmm, who does that sound like? Not Trump… Oh right!

One might wonder if Melania actually supports Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in this election if women’s bodily autonomy is so important to her!

She wants it made clear this was NOT some kind of ambush for her husband just before the election, though. She explained:

“That book was written months before, and it was in print months before. So that was my belief, and it is my belief, and I wanted to put it in the book because I want to be authentic.”

Right, but Trump was having problems with his abortion stance months ago, too.

But here’s the question… is it his position? Trump now calls himself “proud to be the most pro-life president in American history.” But in 1999 he said he was “pro-choice in every aspect.” So it seems like he was historically on the same page with Melania. What changed for him? Did he have a heartbreaking personal story where someone he knew got the medical care they needed and didn’t die of sepsis, and he felt he needed to fight to change all that?

No, we think the answer is much simpler. Trump never cared about the issue of abortion, he’s just cynically been banging the drum since 2016 to get the evangelicals on his side. That is NOT to say he didn’t go through with the changes he promised. Or threatened, depending on your point of view. He absolutely did. Not because he’s an ideologue who knew which judges to pick. No, they picked those for him. He was advised on exactly whom to pick, largely by the Heritage Foundation — you know, the people who wrote Project 2025. And if elected he’ll very likely do everything else they tell him, too. Every horrible thing in that document. And our guess? He’ll never believe in any of it.

Think about it. Trump doesn’t go to church, he doesn’t believe in God. He sells Bibles as a moneymaking scheme. He wasn’t against abortion then, he’s not against it now. But he’ll ban it. Why? Because it helps him. He gets more power, and he doesn’t have to give up anything. After all, he won’t ever have to suffer like the two women who’ve already died in Georgia from lack of healthcare, or like Sally Field, or like young Hadley Duvall.

But “pro-lifers” are another group who are easy to motivate with fear. Like homophobes and racists and incels. So that’s who Trump goes after.

And frankly, if he’s willing to put women through all of this hardship, and he doesn’t even think he’s doing the right thing? That’s kind of worse, right?
