Over a year later and Melissa Rivers‘ multi-million dollar malpractice lawsuit against Yorkville Endoscopy has finally reached a settlement.
The 48-year-old decided to sue the clinic back in January of 2015 after it was revealed Joan Rivers‘ death could have been avoided had it not been for the improper procedure during the comedienne’s routine throat operation.

TMZ has revealed the lawsuit was settled on Thursday, and while the amount was undisclosed, a source dished that it is eight figures!
The Fashion Police cohost has since spoken out, sharing in a post on Twitter:
“The lawsuit concerning my mother’s death has been settled. In accepting this settlement, I am able to put the legal aspects of my mother’s death behind me and ensure that those culpable for her death have accepted responsibility for their actions quickly and without equivocation. Moving forward, my focus will be to ensure that no one ever has to go through what my mother, Cooper and I went through and I will work towards ensuring higher safety standards in out-patient surgical clinics. I want to express my personal gratitude to my legal team for their wise counsel and prompt resolution of this case.”
Regardless, this much be a difficult time for her and her son, Cooper. We can’t even imagine.
Hopefully the resolve of this lawsuit will bring them some more peace.
