Joan Rivers Would Think Kathy Griffin Is Now 'Desperately Unhappy,' Says Daughter Melissa

Three years after her death, Joan Rivers is still near and dear to our hearts.
On Friday, daughter Melissa Rivers spoke to US Weekly about her new scrapbook Joan Rivers Confidential, which features never before told stories of the legendary comedian using photos and notes from her famous friends.

Because the book is so personal, the 49-year-old describes the creative process as “tough” and “emotionally difficult.” She confessed:

“It got tough at times, especially having to decide what I wanted to share about emotionally difficult times in my family.”

However, she knows her mother — who passed in 2014 — would have a sense of humor about the entire project.

“I think her first question would be, ├óΓé¼╦£How many have we sold?’… I think she would be very annoyed that there are some [photos] in there from the early days ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ before retouching really became a standard operation and procedure.”‘

Although Fashion Police ended recently on November 27, the producer is proud of “the fact that I helped create and I got to be a part of a show that ran for 22 years├óΓé¼┬ª it’s something I’m so proud of and so proud of in my personal legacy and in my mother’s legacy and the legacy of us working together.”
But what would her mother think about former Fashion Police host and friend Kathy Griffin‘s recent controversy?
This year, the redhead has been in feuds with Andy Cohen, Donald Trump, Bill O’Reilly, Anderson Cooper, Lisa Bloom, Matt Damon, and Ben Affleck.
Melissa holds nothing back, saying:

“I think [my mom’s] feeling would be the same as mine ├óΓé¼┬ª It’s just really sad and really troubling that she is so unhappy… This is someone that we’ve known for so long and been part of our lives for so long on a personal level, your larger concern is that someone is that desperately unhappy right now that they’re lashing out the way that they are… It’s just bad that someone you know is so unhappy.”

Griffin left the show in March 2015 after a brief stint. Melissa says they have not spoken since.
