Melissa Rivers Learns From The Fashion Police Racism Scandal While Addressing The Oscars Boycott Controversy!

Well said!
Melissa Rivers has been a staple at the Oscars ever since she began covering the red carpet back in 1995, so it makes sense that she’d have an opinion on the awards show’s latest controversy.
As you’re surely aware, the Academy Awards came under fire over the last week after it was revealed that almost all of the nominees this year are white… including every single acting category!

And while that in itself is pretty terrible, Melissa spoke to Us Weekly on Wednesday about how the nominations are just a symptom of a much larger problem, saying:

“You have to remember, the tail doesn’t wag the dog, the dog wags the tail. Everyone is angry at the tail. The problem is the dog. Until that problem is solved, and there’s a larger pool of roles and performances, you’re going to find yourself in this situation.
Of course some amazing performances were overlooked! But some amazing performances by actors and actresses of every color were overlooked. I feel badly for the president of the Academy, because not only is she a woman, she’s black. If anyone’s going to be sensitive to this situation, it’s going to be her.
There’s a systemic problem with opportunities for different races in Hollywood and I’m glad there’s attention being put on it.”

Someone’s learned their lesson after that whole Fashion Police racism scandal
But on a serious note, Melissa is right that the problem is a lack of roles for minorities more so than a lack of recognition for those limited parts.

So what does Joan Rivers‘ daughter think about Chris Rock hosting the controversial ceremony?

“I love the fact that Chris Rock is hosting, I love the irony of that. [He’s] absolutely one of my favorites, hosting, and I can’t wait to see what he has to say.”

Aren’t we all in suspense over that!
Will U be tuning in to see how everything unfolds when the Oscars air Sunday, February 28 at 7 p.m. EST on ABC??
