Uh oh!
Meryl Streep is taking some heat from the actual Iron Lady’s closest companions.
The actress won her third Oscar (with fourteen OTHER nominations!) Sunday and she thanked her husband and makeup artist (for an award she felt guilty of winning).
But not Margaret Thatcher.
Lord Norman Tebbit, a political ally to Thatcher, stated that he wasn’t surprised that Meryl forgot to honor the former prime minister.
Tebbit stated that “the film was about Meryl Streep, not Lady Thatcher” and if Thatcher acted like her movie’s portrayal, she wouldn’t have lasted very long in office.
To be exact, the Lord said Thatcher wouldn’t have lasted six months!
This compounds The Iron Lady‘s earlier criticism for focusing on Lady Thatcher’s dementia, not her politics.
Do U think Meryl’s speech was a slight or just right?
