Wait…what?!
Michael Douglas has been very open about suffering from throat cancer and battling back from his major health crisis, but now we’re hearing he didn’t even have throat cancer!
But before you start freaking over like we did for just a second, Michael DID suffer a major health crisis. However, he chose to slightly alter the diagnosis because he didn’t want to face questions about his REAL illness.
Michael has admitted during his chat with Samuel L. Jackson what was really going on back in 2010:
“This was right before I had a big tour for Wall Street, so we said, ‘There’s no way we can cancel the tour and say we don’t feel well.’ I said, ‘You’ve just got to come out and just tell them I’ve got cancer and that’s it.’ The surgeon said, ‘Let’s just say it’s throat cancer.'”
It seems with tongue cancer Michael faced the possibility of losing part of his jaw and tongue. Discussing this possible surgery was not something he wanted to do while promoting his film.
So even though fans weren’t getting the whole story, who can blame him? We’re still in awe of his strength and AH-Mazing recovery!
