Miley Cyrus Hit With Copyright Infringement Lawsuit For Allegedly Stealing THIS Bruno Mars Song!

Miley Cyrus is facing a major copyright infringement lawsuit!

According to reports, her song Flowers is now in the crosshairs of a music investment company who claims that their ownership of a Bruno Mars track has been swiped right out from under them by the Hannah Montana alum’s hit single. Whoa!

Per TMZ on Monday night, Miley was sued for copyright infringement by a company called Tempo Music Investments. That firm claims in their lawsuit that they own a share of Mars’ hit song When I Was Your Man. And now, they are saying Miley stole musical qualities from Bruno’s track and put them into hers illegally!

FWIW, Bruno himself is NOT part of this lawsuit against Miley — it’s only Tempo Music Investments seeking a payday on the partial ownership they have over his track. But regardless, their newly-filed suit claims that there are so many musical similarities between Flowers and When I Was Your Man that it is the result of Miley “intentionally copying” Bruno. Whoa!!

In the docs, the Tempo Music folks claim that the melody, harmony, and chorus all match up very closely between the two songs. They even specifically cite an argument that Miley’s chord progression in Flowers is in line with what Bruno produced more than a decade ago. Jeez!

Remember, Miley won a Grammy for her single, so Flowers was a big deal when it came out. It rocketed to the top of the charts, too. But according to Tempo Music Investments in this new suit, Miley wouldn’t have produced all that without allegedly copying Bruno’s song architecture. Oh, and Bruno’s track — which was released as part of the singer’s second album, Unorthodox Jukebox, in 2012 — also surged to the top of the charts. So, their argument is that Bruno’s 12-year-old success paved the way for Miley’s modern musical hit!

The docs get specific by noting:

“It is undeniable based on the combination and number of similarities between the two recordings that Flowers would not exist without When I Was Your Man.”

For now, the Tempo Music folks are not only going after Miley for money because of this alleged copyright infringement, but they are also asking a judge in the court docs to forever bar her from further distributing or performing Flowers. Damn! They are really going for it!!
