It’s going to be a bittersweet holiday for Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth, as the two are officially on the road to becoming legally untethered from one another.
According to TMZ, the former couple have worked out all the details of their divorce, with the Slide Away songstress’ lawyer filing legal docs on Tuesday — exactly a year after they tied the knot on December 23, 2018 — declaring the two have already reached a settlement.

The quick speed of this settlement comes as little surprise, seeing as the two have no kids and reportedly signed a prenup, making the process of dividing up property a relative breeze. (Miley will keep the petz, obvi.) TMZ reports that the lawyers behind the settlement — Laura Wasser repping Liam and Judith R. Forman in Miley’s corner — were able to quietly work through the hurdles and submit the paperwork to the judge.
As we reported, Liam filed for divorce from Miley back in August, less than two weeks after it was announced that the couple was separating, citing irreconcilable differences. But it took the 29-year-old actor a bit of time to get the divorce ball rolling: earlier this month, the Los Angeles Superior Court sent a note to his attorney, reminding them that his divorce case was “not complete.”
The notice stated that Liam must have divorce docs delivered to Miley and then file paperwork with the court or he’d have to show up to a hearing for his status conference scheduled on January 21 — so, we’re glad to hear the actor’s team finally took the steps to finalize the divorce.

TMZ reports that the divorce won’t become final for 6 months after the filing, so they should be legally single in March. Of course, neither party is said to be single at the moment…
As our readers know, Miley has been in a PDA-filled relationship with fellow singer Cody Simpson for a few months now, while Liam is spending time with 21-year-old Australian model Gabriella Brooks.

Both stars are on their second rebound romance since splitting in August. Miley, as we reported, was spotted having a #HotGirlSummer with Kaitlynn Carter a mere day after her Liam breakup went public, and the Hunger Games alum was said to be dating actress Maddison Brown.
Looks like these two really are going their separate ways and not looking back!
