Alexis Gabe's Dismembered Remains Found 10 Months After Discovery Of Boyfriend's Scary Note

Missing California Woman Alexis Gabe Remains Found Boyfriend Map

It’s been ten long months for the family of Alexis Gabe. But now they finally have some closure.

For those who don’t remember the case back when we first covered it over the summer, the 24-year-old was last seen on January 26 in Antioch, California. Police believed she was murdered by her boyfriend, Marshall Curtis Jones, at his home in Antioch and then dumped somewhere. But when they finally caught up with him in June, US Marshals say they were unable to detain him, claiming he came at them with a knife, leading them with no choice but to shoot him dead.

Thankfully later on there was a clue found — a note handwritten by Jones which contained detailed directions to Pioneer, a location some 60 miles east of Sacramento. There was hope this would lead the authorities to Alexis’ body. They even said they were only focusing on Pioneer. But that was four months ago. Four more long months of not knowing. On Monday, after all that time, everything changed.

In the end it was a civilian who stumbled upon her partial remains. In a press conference on Monday, police revealed that a visitor all the way from Alaska was on a walk with a metal detector on Jackson Road near Plymouth, California, when they came across what they thought might be human remains. Plymouth is about 40 miles east of Sacramento — quite a ways from where the directions had led cops.

Detective Tyler Horn of the Oakley Police Department revealed in a press conference on Monday that along with human bones, duct tape and garbage bag remnants were also found at the scene — and a pair of earrings:

“The earrings that were found were determined to belong to Alexis based on photographs of her wearing them.”

What was there was only partial and badly decayed. But when they knew which missing person to test the bones against, a forensic odontologist was able to positively ID them as belonging to Alexis. As her father Gwyn Gabe explained to gathered reporters:

“When Detective Horn called me asking for our dentist’s phone number, I knew something was up. They came to our house Friday night to tell us about their discovery. While it was that we were praying to find Alexis and lay her to rest, the reality was still devastating to hear. Our hearts were shattered even more than what we thought possible.”

They were still holding out hope she would be found safe. Heartbreaking.

In an official press release, the Oakley PD broke the horrific news that this may be all that’s ever found:

“Due to the nature of the condition of Alexis’ remains, and the lack of her full body, we do believe the remainder of her remains are scattered in various areas… Due to the condition of Alexis’ remains we realize there may never be a full recovery of her.”

Obviously this ends any hopes of her being out there. Horn confirmed police believe she was dismembered and her parts put in garbage bags then “separated from one another and scattered to several areas.” If this one had earrings and teeth, it clearly must have been the bag with the head. Just horrific.
