Salads, when prepared improperly, can be a dangerous thing!!
34-year-old model Carolina Rommel learned this the hard way — or should we say the rock hard way? — when she apparently bit into a rock in her lentil salad and cracked several of her teeth on it while dining at Public in New York in 2011.
She’s now suing the restaurant for an unspecified amount, saying the experience put her out of modeling work.
According to her attorney:
“Every time she goes to the dentist she’s got a couple of days looking like she just got in a car accident. As a high fashion model, [Rommel’s] physical appearance is essential to her ability to work.”
Carolina’s violent-appearing dentist appointments are allegedly a result of a condition called dermatographic urticaria, which is abnormal skin swelling.
However, the restaurant is surprised by the suit and isn’t even convinced Carolina’s story is true.
Restaurant owner Dan Rafalin points out:
“We don’t know if it was a rock. It could have been a hard lentil.”
Dan also says that he already treated Carolina and 10 of her friends to a free meal at his other restaurant before she sprung the suit on him.
Too bad she didn’t keep the rock as evidence!!
