Reporter Buys Full-Size Candy To Stick It To 'Halloween Haters' Putting Restrictions On Trick-Or-Treating!

Mom sticking it to halloween haters

One Atlanta mother is no longer scared of Halloween haters!

For the past month, reporter Kaitlyn Ross (above) has been busy covering stories about local neighborhoods and parents looking to restrict who can participate in trick-or-treating.

Naturally, she’s completely fed up with those unfestive ghouls and their ridiculous rules — so, she’s sticking it to them with the power of CANDY!

The reporter took to Facebook last week to declare she would be the house that “hands out the big candy bars at Halloween this year” because, well, that’s what the holiday is all about.

Captioning a picture of herself holding full size Hershey bars and bags of Skittles, she wrote:

“I’m going to do it! I’m going to be the house that hands out the big candy bars at Halloween this year. Why? Because it’s JOYFUL! And I am so sick of hearing about the Halloween haters.”

Yas, Hallo-kween!

Ross then listed all the absurd stories her NBC affiliate station has reported on over the past few weeks; including an area that made it ILLEGAL for anyone over 14 to go trick-or-treating, families complaining about out-of-towners trick-or-treating in their neighborhoods, and some refusing to offer candy until the child says the magic words, “trick or treat.”

But the way Ross sees it, Halloween should be about fun, not rules. She continued:

“15? 16? 17? Come to my house, you get a candy bar. I know a lot of full grown adults who deserve a candy bar, too! Not from around here? Come to my house! You get a candy bar! … Is your kid nonverbal? Shy? Not in the mood to talk to a total stranger? They get a candy bar without having to say a word!”

Many seem to agree with the reporter, as her post has since garnered over 84,000 likes and over 80,000 shares.

Not every adult has to agree with her, though. Ross noted parents who can’t afford to hand out candy or just don’t want to participate are more than welcome to skip out on the festivities, adding:

“This is supposed to be about FUN! If you don’t like the holiday, or can’t afford to hand out candy, or just don’t want to talk to a bunch of strangers all night? That’s totally fine, too! Just turn your light off as the universal symbol of, ‘Move along, kids. No candy here.’ … Let’s stop making kids feel bad for wanting to dress up like their heroes one night a year. If they come to your door, just give them the candy bar!”

Sounds simple enough!

Ross later spoke to Today about her viral post, telling the hosts she got inspired to offer full size candy at her doorstep while grocery shopping before work one morning.

She said:

“I saw one of the huge candy bars, and it got me thinking … I remembered how excited everyone would get to go to the house that handed out the full-sized candy bars when I was growing up and thought it would be amazing to be able to spread that joy as an adult.”

Take that, haters!
