Friends of the couple say that their split was a long time coming, but we’re still reeling from the news that Courteney Cox and David Arquette are separating. We really thought the odd couple could make it.
In the aftermath of their announcement and David’s impromptu interview on Howard Stern’s radio show, new information is coming to light about the relationship and downfall of Court & David.
Seems that people began to notice there was trouble between the pair months ago on the set of Scream 4. Film insiders say that things were very “weird between them”, with the duo taking off in different directions and to different trailers between takes.
But most of their friends thought this was just a rough patch, something the couple could work through. But after David’s rather candid interview on Howard Stern, we’re thinking otherwise!
However, people close to Courteney say that she isn’t surprised David did what he did. A source claims that she “knows” what he’s like and “all that he said” was quintessentially David. The pal adds:
“Does she wish she could edit what comes out of his mouth? Sure, but nothing surprises her at this point. What’s amazing about Courteney is that she doesn’t get caught up in all the ridiculousness.”
Good for her! Very mature! We just wish David was the same way, for her sake, as sources reveal the reason David called into Howard Stern was to defend himself against the media speculation. They explain:
“He felt really attacked and his first instinct was to defend himself,” the source says. “He was totally bombarded with a lot of negative attention, most of which was inaccurate…It’s incredibly difficult to go through [it] especially with all the speculation about what happened. It’s David’s instinct and way of reacting to tell the truth.”
We’re sure it’s rough, but you need to pull yourself together, David! Think of Coco! Do you really want her to see and hear you do or say things about Courteney that you can’t take back?!
That would be truly heartbreaking!
