Why Even Be On The Show, Dude? Morgan Wallen Turned Down SNL Sketch Role -- So Another Singer Filled In!

Morgan Wallen Turned Down SNL Sketch Role -- So Another Singer Filled In

Morgan Wallen was a bit of a nightmare at Saturday Night Live last week — not just because of his abrupt walk off the Studio 8H stage after host Mikey Madison wrapped up the show!

During the latest episode of the late-night comedy series, Mikey, Bowen Yang, Chloe Fineman, Sarah Sherman, and Ego Nwodim sing a song about the absurdity of waiting in a “big dumb line” for things in New York City — like creamy tacos, gummy bears, yogurt, or choda (AKA cheese and soda). When Bowen threatens to leave the extremely long line, Joe Jonas makes a cameo to encourage everyone to “believe in yourself” and “believe in the line.” Watch the sketch (below):

What a nice surprise to see Joe briefly on the episode! Viewers must have loved it! However, it turns out the Jonas Brothers member was never supposed to be in the sketch! According to Variety on Tuesday, sources revealed that the part was written for Morgan, the musical guest that night, but he turned it down! What!

An insider for Page Six backed the report, saying the controversial country music star “was asked but declined, so they got Joe instead” at the last minute. Wow. What was even the point of agreeing to appear on SNL if you weren’t going to participate beyond the performance? The Cowgirls artist could have at least tried something new and joined in on the fun. But no. Instead, the outlet reports that he was “not super friendly” on set. We can’t say we are surprised about that. An insider added:

“They had hopes he would do the pre-tape and perhaps more, but no joy.”

That is not the kind of vibe you want heading into a show! Jeez! We bet the cast is glad they won’t have to see Morgan again unless he gets invited back in the future. Based on the reactions from other stars, though, that may not happen for a while — if ever! He’s not exactly a team player here!

All Morgan reportedly did was do “what he was asked” — well, as the musical guest — and performed — that is it. Nothing else. The source said:

“He did the same thing for dress [rehearsal], i.e. walking off; he was done.”

It is unknown why Morgan declined the opportunity, but something tells us that he wanted to do the absolute bare minimum and had zero interest in being there in general! When he made a beeline off the stage at the end to return to “God’s country” AND turned down the sketch, that spoke volumes!
