It’s the most inspired idea we’ve ever heard! Literally, this would be the most EPIC thing to ever happen to the Academy Awards. We would never turn the show off!!!!
If the suits over at ABC – owned by Disney, who also own The Muppets (hint, hint) – don’t go through with this, they are missing out on the most golden opportunity of all time.
Now that Eddie Murphy is out, everyone is wondering who should take over for him hosting this year’s Oscar ceremonies. One brilliant 27-year-old guy named Charlie Poekel started a campaign to have Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and all their friends host the Oscars the day after last year’s show and now that there is an opening, he is hoping to see his dream realized. Such foresight!
He explained the genius of his idea to the Village Voice, saying:
“[He came up with the idea] watching the Oscars last year. As much as I loved both of the hosts, I think the feeling I got from a lot of America was that there was something missing. There’s something about the old Oscars — I don’t know if it’s just nostalgia — but we expect this big experience that we just haven’t been getting, and that’s in line with what the Muppets do.
The thing with the Oscars is that it’s supposed to be entertainment; it’s supposed to be fun, funny, interesting. That’s something the Muppets have always done well. There are only a few things that are universally enjoyed, and the Muppets are really one of those premier institutions.”
Beautifully said and completely true!
Can you just imagine? Imagine the hijinks! Imagine the HIGHlarity! The mayhem! There would be a show-stopping, glamourous number by Miss Piggy! Fozzie could open the show with a routine that audiences actually want to be stale! OMG! Waldorf and Statler as the announcers!!!! C’MON!!!
This could be the kind of unprecedented thing that would draw audiences in in droves! We can think of nothing better!
Join the movement! Make this happen! #MuppetsOscars !!! Tell all your friends!!!
