If you intend to see the new weepy Cameron Diaz flick My Sister’s Keeper, be forewarned: the movie’s ending is radically different than the books and that has left fans with a huge distaste for the flick.

Warning: SPOILER ALERT!

Changes tend to happen with adaptations; it’s part of the process. But devoted fans of the Jodi Picoult novel seem to be very angry that the film takes a deliberate 180 turn in the end, changing the feel and message of the poignant piece.

According to reports, in the novel, a key character is killed off for a specific reason, but in the film, the opposite happens, changing the entire ending. (For the sake of those who haven’t read the book and just want to see the movie, we’ll remain vague.)

The change gives the film a more “Hollywood-esque ending”, but even the author doesn’t agree with the choice to alter the ending:

“Having the ending changed would certainly not have been my choice. I wrote the ending very intentionally because I wanted to leave the reader with a certain message. And changing that ending changes that message. However, I am excited to see the movie and to judge it on its strengths.”

Have U seen the movie and read the book? What do U think?
