Benji and Joel Madden love their respective wives very much… but even they can admit the two women scare them a little bit!
During an appearance on the Literally! With Rob Lowe podcast on Thursday, the Good Charlotte members opened up about their marriages. The topic came up when host Rob Lowe, who is married to Sheryl Berkoff, mentioned that what they all have in common is the fact that they are with three “strong” women, and all of them share the same “core” values in relationships. Then, there is also the fact that Joel, Benji, and Rob are afraid of their wives! LOLz!
Joel said about being married to Nicole Richie:
“We all respect our wives. They are absolutely our counterparts and we all have a healthy fear of our wives.”

While Benji — who is, of course, married to Cameron Diaz –agreed, he made sure to mention they’re afraid “in the best way.” Ha! Joel went on to open up about the Simple Life star, saying:
“I don’t know if I ever thought someone could keep me. I met Nicole and she absolutely runs the show. But we are partners, so there’s aspects that I run. But there’s a whole part of my life that would not work if she wasn’t there running it. And she gave me a way deeper, richer life because of the aspects of my life that she oversees, [and] runs and vice versa. We work together, but she’s strong.”
While Joel respects Nicole, he also cannot help but “fear her a little bit.” Benji felt the same way with Cameron but pointed out that their dynamic is “a whole foundation, adding:
“Cameron, when we met, it was like the world just went [right side up] and it was over.”
Aww!
You can tell these two guys love and care about their wives so much — even though they are a tad terrified of them! And Joel mentioned that “fear” might be too strong of a word here because it sounds “abusive.” He made it clear that they have a “healthy” relationship — but Nicole is just “sharp.” Or as Rob called the women, “formidable.” The 61-year-old actor explained:
“Like you don’t want to f**k with them. I want no part of running afoul of either of our three wives.”
What can we say? These guys picked some fierce gals! Benji then added:
“They’re queens. Go against my wife. Good luck. I don’t even need to get involved. Good luck.”
Even Rob said he wouldn’t “want to tangle with Cameron!” Damn! Someone has seen Charlie’s Angels!
