How Police Were Able To Get That Nancy Guthrie Surveillance Footage Of 'Rookie' Masked Suspect!

Law enforcement have been able to make big strides in Nancy Guthrie‘s disappearance through getting access to doorbell camera footage.

In case you haven’t heard the good news, the Pima County Sheriff’s Office along with the FBI and some private sources were able to get ahold of some surveillance footage they originally thought was gone forever! The doorbell camera footage, which screenshots of were posted online, is a big step in finding out just what happened to Savannah Guthrie‘s mom.

But if this footage was long gone, how were they able to go through the “back end” and get it? Well, private investigator Andy Kay talked to PageSix on Tuesday and explained it.

You see, the brand of doorbell camera Nancy had was Nest, which charges a subscription fee to save any recordings to online servers. Because Nancy didn’t pay for the subscription, the suspect likely believed the videos of him would never be saved on any servers:

“The cameras will record to the servers as long as they have internet. According to Nest, without a subscription, usually they are quickly overwritten by next images.”

But that’s not what happened!

Andy explained:

“But, if the camera is disconnected, there should be nothing to overwrite on the server.”

What was the last thing her camera saw? The masked man disconnecting the camera from the server! So, if that was the last images it captured, it wouldn’t have any new images to rewrite the old ones with… Meaning they’re just left somewhere online. And that’s how officials were able to get access to them!

This, plus the fact the supposed suspect appeared to not have their weapon holstered correctly, leaves Andy to dub them a “rookie”. Hopefully cops will find more “rookie” mistakes and be able to track Nancy down!
