It seems that tragedy may have been unavoidable.
While singer Natalie Cole was undergoing kidney transplant surgery this week, her older sister, Cookie, passed away, according to reports.
Apparently, Cookie had not been to the doctor in 30 years, and upon her recent visit, a cancerous spot was found on her lung. When doctors wanted to treat her immediately with chemo, she made the decision to not seek treatment.
While Natalie was at Cookie’s bedside, the singer received a phone call from doctors with a kidney ready to transplant, directing her to get to the hospital immediately in order to perform the surgery.
When Natalie refused to go, younger sister Timolin convinced her to go, saying, “Cookie would want this for you.”
What a crazy story!
Rest in peace, Cookie.
