It was just a matter of time until NBA jerseys became ad-infused.
On Thursday, the NBA Board of Governors had a meeting in Las Vegas to talk about their plan to attach small advertising patches to the NBA jerseys for the 2013-2014 season.
Deputy commissioner Adam Silver was all for the gimmick because of the $100 million in additional revenue that the adverts could possibly bring in.
The proposal has not been approved quite yet, but we really don’t think the money hungry league’s owners will reject getting more moola.
After all, the NBA lost over $300 million during the 2011-2012 lockout, so finding a way to make the monies back was probably top priority.
The ads may be an eye-sore, but it’s not like we need to pay much attention to the marketing woes when there’s seksi sweaty players running up and down the court, right?
