Amanda Palmer Responds To Shocking Neil Gaiman Abuse Allegations -- And You Won't Like Her Statement

Neil Gaiman abuse allegations Amanda Palmer statement Russell Brand me too essay

This week fantasy literature fans were dealt a devastating blow as an exposé of Neil Gaiman unmasked an alleged sexual predator who — at best — was more interested in getting off on abusing extremely young women than making sure everything was fully consensual. At worst, he may be an alleged rapist who performed degrading sex acts with women in the presence of his young son.

You can read the whole horrible story HERE.

Another big wrinkle? His ex-wife Amanda Palmer — the singer who has developed her own cult following over the years — comes across as something of an accomplice in the Vulture article. It’s unclear how complicit she was in the alleged abuse he visited on unsuspecting women, but she certainly didn’t help the women she reportedly funneled to him — choosing instead to stay strategically silent.

And now that all this has been made public? Shocker… She’s choosing to stay strategically silent. In her statement on the bombshell accusations Wednesday, she says simply:

“As there are ongoing custody and divorce proceedings, I am not able to offer public comment. Please understand that I am first and foremost a parent. I ask for privacy at this time.”

She even turned off comments on the post.

If you want to know where she stands on her husband’s alleged treatment of more than a dozen women, though, we can direct you to something she wrote in late 2023…

In September of that year, she wrote a post about another British rockstar in his field — Russell Brand — who had just been “me-too’d” as she put it. And in her post about her personal experiences with sexual assault, she explained that women should forgive their rapists.

That was her take.

Given that Gaiman — the father of her child, with whom she was still very close — was already in danger of being “me-too’d” at that time, and she allegedly knew it… Well, it puts her hot take essay into a whole different context, doesn’t it? You can check that out HERE though.
