New Legless Lizard Species Discovered Near LAX

New species of legless lizard discovered outside of LAX!

Los Angeles is such a diverse and random place, especially around LAX.

Believe it or not, a new species of lizard was found in the area!!

An 8 to 10-inch legless lizard!

Legless lizard? You mean a snake?

Nope! A legless lizard is a worm-like reptile but not a snikity snake!

The discovering professor said:

“This is an exciting discovery to science. This is the first time that so many new species of lizards have been described from California at one time, making this an unprecedented herpetological discovery for the state. These discoveries illustrate how new species can still be discovered, despite being found in some heavily compromised urban areas.”

The lizards have already been labeled “species of special concern” by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife because of how urbanization and habitat destruction is so rampant in that area.

Hopefully these legless lizards will be protected now that they’ve even discovered!

Save the legless lizards!!
