Just like Homer Simpson, we too like our beer cold, our TV loud and our homosexuals FLAMING!
Because there’s nothing wrong with being gay! And that’s exactly the attitude The Simpsons have been showcasing for a remarkable 24 seasons!
Now, a new study coming out of Germany is finding that the yellow-skinned, blue-collar family has helped many of their gay fans accept who they are!
Nearly 500 gay scenes were cited from the cartoon series as being “pro-gay” And according to researcher Erwin In het Panhuis, those scenes have been crucial in dispelling discrimination against homosexuality. He explained:

“[The Simpsons] treats homosexuality as something normal in a media environment which can usually be very hostile to the point of view. Homer has kissed other men on the lips more than 50 times throughout the series but despite that he’s happily married to his wife.”

Wowza! Talk about progressive!
The Simpsons have been fighting the good gay fight for most of if not ALL of its run on television.
In 1997, John Waters guest starred as a gay man who befriends The Simpsons. And in 2005, Homer officiates several gay weddings after their fictional yet figurative town of Springfield legalizes same-sex marriage.
