Well, we’re not gonna lie here:
THIS is certainly disappointing!
Although Naomi Watts and Nicole Kidman have been friends for years – dating back to before either of them were famous – and even looked FABULOUS recently while walking the red carpet arm-in-arm at the Producers Guild of America Awards, it appears that the The Paperboy starlet is secretly none-too-pleased that her role dancing up against Zac Efron in his underwear did not warrant the critical accolades that her friend received for The Impossible!
And because of it, Nicole is REFUSING to appear in an upcoming CBS Oscar special, set to air right before the Academy Awards on February 24th, and speak about her friendship with Naomi in promotion of her Best Actress nomination!
However, sources close to the former wife of Tom Cruise maintain that there are no sour grapes:
“She couldn’t do it because of her schedule. It was a last-minute thing. Nicole and Naomi are best friends. Not sure of the length or importance of it now without Nicole agreeing to it.”
But OTHER insiders say there is, indeed, perhaps the “no” was more than just friendly competition:
“She declined. Clearly she’s not inclined to help her friend because she’s jealous she’s not in this year’s Oscar’s spotlight. It was a ‘no’ right off the bat [for Nicole.] She could have made time if it was a priority.”
WOW.
Well if that truly is the case, then we think Stephanie Tanner always said it best, and most succinctly, with: “HOW RUDE!”
What gives, Nicole?!
Noami has always been nothing but supportive of your career – even when you were blowing up and she was still struggling to secure a career, pre-Mulholland Drive!
We would have thought that even with such a busy schedule, you could make supporting your friend a priority!
But hey!
If this truly is turning into a “frenemy” situation, then maybe they could cash in on it!
Wouldn’t they PERFECT for a Whatever Happened To Baby Jane remake?!
