The son of Norway’s Crown Princess Mette-Mari is getting locked up.
Marius Borg Høiby was reportedly charged with 32 counts, which included rape, sexual abuse, secretly filming people without their consent, sexually offensive conduct without consent, and more back in August 2025 — about a year after he was arrested for allegedly attacking a woman. It then expanded to 38 counts. Now the 29-year-old has been convicted and sentenced by Judge Jon Sverdrup Efjestad for assaulting former girlfriend Nora Haukland following a six-week trial.

On Monday, the judge sentenced Høiby to four years in prison. He was also ordered to pay compensation to Haukland and three other women, whose identities remain anonymous. Høiby was acquitted on two separate rape charges. However, he was slapped with a two-year restraining order protecting one of the victims.
Norway’s royal family hasn’t addressed the sentencing yet. But Crown Prince Haakon, who is the stepdad of Høiby, issued a statement in January, saying:
“Our thoughts are with everyone who is affected by this case. It has an impact on the individuals, their families and all those who care about them. We understand that this is a difficult time for many of you, and we sympathise. At the same time, it is reassuring to know that we live in a state governed by the rule of law. I am confident that those responsible for overseeing the proceedings will ensure that the trial is conducted in as orderly, proper, and just a manner as possible.”
We’re glad the victims got some justice. But what are your thoughts on the sentencing, Perezcious readers? Was it too light? Sound OFF in the comments (below).
