Good!
NYC Mayor Bloomberg made $35 million in cuts recently and that money was taken away from several homeless youth organizations including the Ali Forney Center, which specifically caters to LGBT youth.
Thanks to several organizations around the country, in addition to Lew Fidler, Speaker Christine Quinn and the New York City Council, the funds have been restored!
Carl Siciliano, Executive Director of the Ali Forney Center, said:
“This news comes just a few days after Mayor Bloomberg released what many saw as a hypocritical video message to LGBT teens telling them that ‘it gets better.’
These cuts would absolutely not have been restored were it not for the hundreds who have stood up and told their story. So, congratulations to all of you who have stood up and spoken up about who you are. This is a victory for all of us.”
Amazing! Equality for all!
