NYC To Open City Offices On Sunday July 24 To Grant First Gay Marriages!

This is wonderful!!!!

In an effort to allow gay couples to get married on the day that legalization of gay marriage takes effect, New York City will be opening city offices on Sunday July 24 AND they’ll be keeping them open two hours longer than usual! Awesome!

City clerk’s offices in all five NYC boroughs will be open with judges on hand “to officiate at the weddings after couples receive marriage licenses.”

And yes, usually there’s a 24 hour waiting period to get married after receiving a marriage license…but NYC is waiving that so gays can get married on THE SAME DAY it becomes legal! Amazing!!!

Here’s what Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg had to say about it in a statement:

“This is a historic moment for New York, a moment many couples have waited years and even decades to see, and we are not going to make them wait one day longer than they have to.”

We are BEYOND EXCITED for this and we CANNOT wait to hear about all the marriages that take place on the 24th! We have a feeling there’s going to be tons!!!!!!!
