Jean Taylor is a rancher from Darby, Montana and she was left in shock when 80% of her cattle herd died in a freak accident.
One moment, they were there, and the next… gone.
All it took was a single bolt of lightning.
Apparently during a storm, Jean’s cows were crowded under a bunch of crabapple trees on the farm. Then the bolt of lightning struck, killing 45 of her cows!
That’s so awful!!
She said:
“It was exactly at 10:28 p.m. The clap of thunder woke me up. Some friends told me they felt the shock in their house.
They were beautiful cattle. It killed cows and their calves and a bull that we had just bought last spring. It├óΓé¼Γäós very sad. No one had ever heard of so many cattle being killed by lightning like that. We have eight or 10 cows left in our herd.”
Local ranchers helped her family dispose of all the dead animals, so at least they had support.
But they can never get back the herd of Black Angus cattle that her family spent years building.
Those poor cows. So sad.
