Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson are closer than they have been in a long time, and it’s sadly all thanks to the tragic loss of Liam Payne.
As Perezcious readers know, the 31-year-old singer died on October 16 after falling from the fourth-story balcony of his hotel room in Buenos Aires. His friends and family — including his fellow One Direction members — all gathered in Amersham, England, last month to lay him to rest. This marked the first time since 2015 that the group had been together, and it won’t be the last time the four guys are in the same room again.

A source told Us Weekly on Wednesday that his death served as a “wake-up call for all of them.” For a while, they weren’t best friends who stayed in contact with each other frequently. Instead, the insider shared:
“Prior, they kept in touch sporadically but didn’t have close friendships at all.”
But now, that’s all going to change. The insider said the former bandmates vowed to fix their relationships with each other after Liam’s passing, adding:
“They’re all still mourning but are checking in on each other and feel closer than they have in years. It brought them back together.”
What a shame that the tragedy is what reunited Harry, Niall, Zayn, and Louis and that Liam won’t be a part of it. But we are glad the guys are looking out for each other, as all this must be incredibly hard on them.
Not only have the four of them grown closer, but get this. They may reunite onstage someday to pay tribute to Liam. The source even claimed the five members were “in talks to do one last reunion show” before the Teardrops artist died. Now, that has been put on pause. However, it is not completely off the table! Per the insider, the concert could happen sometime in the future:
“The guys would love to do a tribute to Liam. They’re all so devastated right now they can’t even think about that as a legitimate project, but it has been disguised. Liam’s death has caused the guys immense heartbreak.”
Oof.
It would be amazing to see them together again to honor Liam, but only once they are ready. As much as fans would love a reunion show, they would agree there’s no need to rush. They should take as much time as they want to mourn before working to put together a concert as a group. Reactions, Perezcious readers? Would you want a One Direction reunion show?
