Just when we thought the worst was over…
On Tuesday evening, an ad appeared in the “men-seeking-men” section of Craigslist that threatened an Orlando-like massacre in San Diego.

Titled “We Need More Orlando’s”, the terrifying post read:

“Orlando was long overdue. Cleanse your community of the filth that gives decent gay men and women a bad name. Those people were walking diseases, bug chasers, and thank god for AIDS and 9-11 and now Orlando. San Diego you are next ├óΓé¼┬ª”

The horrifying text was accompanied by an image of a gun shooting a bullet.
Before the advertisement was flagged and removed, a reader sent it to ABC10 — the network’s SD affiliate — who showed it to the FBI.
According to FBI Special Agent Darrell Foxworth, the threat is being investigated by the Joint Terrorism Task Force. He said:

“This is something that’s very serious, very concerning to all of us, especially given what’s happened recently in Orlando… We are going to use all lawful means available to us, so if we have to go out and get a search warrant, we will do that. If it doesn’t require a search warrant, we’re going to do whatever it takes to do it in a lawful and legal matter.”

While there are no credible threats to the area, Foxworth says him and his team will be persistent in examining any and all suspicious activity.
On Wednesday, SDPD Chief Shelley Zimmerman released the following statement:

“The San Diego Police Department is aware of a recent post on Craigslist that has since been removed. We are investigating it collaboratively with our law enforcement partners. The latest information remains, there are no known credible threats to the San Diego region. As always, we encourage our community if they see something, hear something, or know something, to say something.”

Whoever posted the ad may face jail time, if caught.
