Paris Jackson is opening up about her struggles with addiction as she celebrates a huge milestone in her sobriety journey.
On Tuesday, the 26-year-old daughter of Michael Jackson took to Instagram to reveal for the first time that not only did she suffer from alcohol addiction, but she secretly battled an addiction to heroin, too! Whoa.

Thankfully, she is now five years “clean and sober” and reflected on her “gratitude” for this great achievement in the new post. Paris wrote in the caption:
“hi, i’m pk and i’m an alcoholic and a heroin addict. today marks 5 years clean & sober from all drugs and alcohol. to say that i’m thankful would be a poor euphemism. gratitude hardly scratches the surface. it’s because i’m sober that i get to smile today.”
Damn, what a statement! She elaborated:
“i get to make music. i get to experience the joy of loving my dogs and cat. i get to feel heartbreak in all it’s glory. i get to grieve. i get to laugh. i get to dance. i get to trust. i feel the sun on my skin and it’s warm. i’ve found that life keeps happening regardless of whether i’m sober or not, but today i get to show up for it.”
Wonderful! Paris also included “a little snapshot of what has been possible because of my sobriety,” noting she “can’t believe I almost missed it all.”
In the post, you see multiple shots of the model drinking booze, smoking, and crying. So heartbreaking. It then cuts to snaps of several chips she earned in her sobriety journey and clips of the joyous moments in her life these days, like creating music, attending events, hanging out with her fiancé Justin “Blue“ Long, and playing with her dog. The video ends with a heartfelt message for those who have been by her side while she got sober that said:
“To those that helped me on this journey, if only for just the beginning, middle or the whole time so far, you know who you are.”
