What a fabulous picture. It’s clear how much love and happiness Patton and Michelle brought one another.

For those who don’t know, the celebrated true crime author died on April 21, 2016. Patton revealed in 2017 that his wife’s death was the result of “the combination of drugs in Michelle’s system, along with a condition we were unaware of, proved lethal.”

He went on to further reveal the drugs found in her system included Adderall, fentanyl, and Xanax. Those, paired with an undiagnosed heart condition, ultimately took her life. Michelle sadly left behind the daughter she and Patton share, Alice Rigney Oswalt, now 17.

So, so tragic.

18 months after the death of his beloved bride, Patton remarried with actress Meredith Salenger. At the time, he explained to People why he made the decision to wed again:

“It feels like an evolution. After the darkness, I went through all the ways I had to strengthen myself to try to recognize joy again. Meredith was a beacon I had to reach for.”

For her part, Meredith has always honored Patton’s connection to Michelle and seems to be transparent in knowing Michelle will always be his first great love. What are your reactions to Patton’s throwback photo? Let us know in the comments down below.
