The actors were spotted on Saturday night leaving a nearly three-hour dinner at the Sunset Tower Hotel in West Hollywood. Fans quickly started shipping them. We mean, sure, we guess? They are both extremely hot and talented, so we get that part. But hopes have been dashed, as sources have already shut down the rumors. One could wonder if the denial was genuine… But on Monday night, we got to hear it from Pedro himself. And the way he described it, we’re pretty sure even the most hopeful shippers will realize this was NOT a romantic evening!

At the premiere of Season 2 of his hit HBO show The Last of Us, the performer told ET that he and the Friends star “are very good friends.” As for that outing? He dished:

“I got to have dinner [with her] on Saturday, and it was a fun martini dinner.”

“Fun martini dinner”?? Sign us up! That sounds like a blast — and a pretty platonic get-together, too! We mean, it sounds less like sex and the city and more like, well, Sex and the City.

The 49-year-old then joked that all the attention on the sighting was a credit to her popularity, gushing:

“That’s her starlight. I’m just basking in it!”

Later during the premiere, he reiterated to E! News that they’re just “friends” who “went to dinner with mutual friends.” He wasn’t too hung up on the speculation, acknowledging that when you’re the internet’s #1 zaddy…
