January Is PETA's 'Unchain A Dog Month'

January is often the coldest, harshest winter weather month of the year so PETA has named the first month of the year “Unchain A Dog Month”.

The organization is encouraging people to unchain their “backyard” dogs and lets them inside where it’s warm and safe.

Dogs can suffer from frostbite, exposure, and dehydration when water sources freeze and if their owners do not pay enough attention to them, they have nowhere to go to escape the cold or snow!

PETA suggests offering to walk, play with, or feed chained dogs that don’t have the luxury of living with a roof over their head.
