Controversial YouTube Star PewDiePie Marries Girlfriend Marzia Bisognin In Low-Key London Ceremony

PewDiePie marries longtime girlfriend

It took ’em eight years — to the day — but YouTube star PewDiePie and his long-time girlfriend Marzia Bisognin are officially man and wife.

The 29-year-old high-profile gamer said “I do” to the 26-year-old social media star in a London ceremony that took place on Monday. Soon after the nuptials, both the Swedish web star and the Italian digital media maven posted galleries of pictures celebrating the event across their social media channels, as well.

PewDiePie — real name Felix Kjellberg — wrote how he was “the happiest I can be,” and feeling “so lucky to share my life with this amazing woman” in his series of pics chronicling the couple’s big day.

Bisognin shared more on her own Instagram account, revealing the two officially wed exactly eight years to the day after since they first met. Ch-ch-check out what her view of the nuptials — which took place at London’s Temperate House in Kew Gardens — looked like (below):

Nice! So sweet to see her “incredibly ecstatic to be able to call Felix my husband fo the rest of our lives,” as she wrote in the accompanying caption.

Between the two of ’em, the digitally-dominant couple has about 107 million YouTube subscribers, 24 million followers on Instagram, and 22 million more Twitter followers, combined … so as you probably guessed, the ceremony was a big deal on social media. As to be expected, “PewDiePie” trended across Twitter on Tuesday morning with fans and followers celebrating the newlyweds’ big day.

No word yet on whether we’ll see an official wedding video come across on the Swedish YouTuber’s popular channel, or if the couple opted to keep things a bit more low key. Considering how Marzia noted the event occurred “with our closest friends and family,” perhaps it was a more private day — at least, more private than another recent YouTube wedding… but regardless, congrats to the happy couple!

A Long Road For PewDiePie…

Now this is all nice, but we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the, um, winding road PewDiePie took to get to this place. The controversial vlogger may have the most subscribers in the history of YouTube, but it’s come at a steep price for those concerned about his often eye-opening racial remarks and questionable antics.

As you’ll recall, in 2017, the gamer publicly apologized after getting caught saying the n-word on a livestream video. That’d be bad enough, of course, but just seven months earlier he’d been called out for making anti-Semitic comments, as well. An earlier n-word controversy (yes, there were several) landed the Swede in hot water with Disney and eventually forced YouTube itself to drop him from a business deal, too.

Perhaps his most famous transgression, though, came via the social freelance work app Fiverr, where he paid two Indian men a paltry sum to hold up a “Death to All Jews” sign. Not sure where the humor is in any of these repeated and overtly racist, bigoted issues, and all this is not to even mention the bizarre conspiracy theories he’s held in the past about YT supposedly being “anti-white.” Yeah…

Anyways, congrats to Felix and Marzia on the wedding. But seriously, let’s hope this helps PewDiePie grow up a bit so he can finally keep things clean on his highly influential channel??? Just sayin’…
