LOLz, this Duck Dynasty debate is a super intense one and we’re just trying to lighten the mood!
Last night, A&E suspended one of its top reality stars for racially insensitive and extremely homophobic quotes he gave to GQ, but now some of his staunchest supports are cracking quacking the eff up about it!
Over 400k Facebook petitioners and over 40k Change.org petitioners are pissed off by the network’s decision to force Duck Dynasty‘s Phil Robertson to, uhhh, fly south for the foreseeable future and they’ve come to his defense!!
Apparently his supporters — including Sarah Palin — woke up at the crack quack of dawn this morning, read the news, and were outraged because they felt Phil’s freedom of speech was trampled upon.
Well, we’re not a constitutional scholar (though we sometimes play one on TV), but that argument holds less water than a duck feather! Oh well, birds of a feather do enjoy flocking together!
Phil was well within his right to spread his homophobic views to the public, sure, and the First Amendment guarantees that he cannot be imprisoned for those views, but we think his employer also had every right to fire him for publicly associating their network with intolerance and ostracizing a large percentage of the channel’s viewers!
