Pink Floyd Guitarist's Son Sentenced To 16 Months In Jail Due To London Riot!

Just another sad reminder that actions have consequences.

Charlie Gilmour, the son of Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmore, was sentenced to 16 months in jail today after he reportedly dropped acid, took a valium, and participated in attacking a Jaguar included in Prince Charles and Camilla‘s motorcade during a student riot in London last year, during which he was quoted screaming:

“Let them eat cake, let them eat cake, they say. We won’t eat cake, we will eat fire, ice and destruction, because we are angry, very fucking angry.”

He was also photographed that day swinging from a Union Flag on the Cenotaph war memorial, as part of the protest against the rise in school tuition fees, and although he claimed his behavior was due to being rejected by his biological father, writer Heathcote Williams, Judge Nicholas Price QC was having no excuses in court, and was quoted telling the young man:

“Such outrageous and deeply offensive behaviour gives a clear indication of how out of control you were that day. It caused public outrage and understandably so. For a young man of your intelligence and education and background to profess to not know what the Cenotaph represents defies belief. You have shown disrespect to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice, to those who fell defending this country.”

Eek! That’s some serious scolding!

But justifiably so, we’d say!

We understand getting caught up in the moment, but to not only disrespect such an important memorial, but to allow yourself to act so violently when the royal family is involved – pure STOOPIDITY!

What was he thinking?!

Oh well – we suppose he’ll have a lot of time to think about that while he’s behind bars!
