The royal family couldn’t just do a nice thing!
On Sunday, King Charles III, Prince William, and Princess Catherine extended a surprise olive branch to prodigal son Prince Harry by wishing him a happy 40th birthday. The official royal family social media page shared a smiling photo of the Duke of Sussex that the Wales’ reposted with their own celebratory message. Super sweet of them — especially amid their feud! For years now, Harry’s family has publicly ignored his birthday amid new protocol to only highlight working royals on socials, so this said a LOT!

But, classically, it turns out the post also included some Meghan Markle shade! A closer look at the tribute post shows the photo they used of Harry was taken in 2018 during a visit to Dogpatch Labs in Dublin. And on that visit, he was with his wife! Not only was she at the event, the Suits alum was BY HIS SIDE! In other worse, they literally CROPPED HER OUT of the photo they used!

It’s literally the SAME snapshot, just zoomed in! OOF! FWIW, this was a b-day post, so it’s not that strange to use a solo shot of the Spare author. But to use a pic that literally took effort to exclude the actress is just asking for drama! LOLz!
It’s also interesting that they used an image from 2018 — before Harry and Meghan left their roles as working royals and the ongoing family rift kicked into high gear. We wonder if this was on purpose too?? It probably means nothing, but it’s a little odd considering there are so many more recent pics of the birthday boy. They didn’t have to go that far back, unless they only wanted to feature him when he was still a beloved and working member of the family!
Almost like they’re saying, Happy Birthday to THIS version of Harry, the one we want — who is a working royal, with NO Meghan. Hmm…
Regardless of any possible shade, despite their feud, the New York Post reported on Sunday that Harry probably actually heard from his relatives with a call on his special day, with a source sharing:
“It’s very likely that Charles and Kate will likely phone Harry to wish him well on his birthday.”
That’s a HUGE deal, if true. Both of them have reportedly been shunning him amid their cancer treatments due to their rift, but if the b-day post is any indication, maybe things really are improving?? That would be so nice given all the health scares!
