A lot of Australians are NOT looking forward to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s trip Down Under — and they’re strongly clapping back!
The Sussexes are set to travel to Australia next month for various events, including the Suits alum’s VERY high-paying luxury girls’ trip gig. They’ll also reportedly be filming the whole thing for a food and lifestyle-focused documentary. It’s their latest faux royal tour following their exit as working royals, and not everyone’s thrilled about it!
So far, over 35,000 people have signed a Change.org petition titled “No Taxpayer-Funding or Official Support for Harry & Meghan’s Private Visit to Australia!” Ouch! See it HERE.

However, it’s not getting the Archewell founders down! Their spokesman hit back at the criticism. In a statement obtained by DailyMail.com on Wednesday, they said:
“It’s a moot point. The trip is being funded privately, so I’m not sure what this petition hopes to achieve.”
The spokesperson then really dragged the campaign, saying:
“Of course, if you wanted to dive into the ridiculousness of this petition as an agenda for spreading misinformation, then one could equally hypothesise that there are approximately 26.5million Australians (99.98 per cent of the population) who haven’t signed it, who must therefore agree with the taxpayer picking up the tab for their visit. Of course, that is another equally stupid assertion to make.”

The group behind the campaign has argued Australians are already struggling with the rising cost of living. They don’t want their money spent on funding a celebrity vacation! When the couple visited back in 2018, they did have a police escort everywhere they went. But that was when they were working royals — it’s all different now! Still, folks are hesitant, especially as state and federal governments in the country have reportedly declined to confirm who would be responsible for the visitors’ protection. Nothing seems to be stopping the Sussexes from their plans, though! We’ll see in time who ends up paying the bill…
