Meghan & Harry's Secret Romance: Untold Intimate Details Of The Early Days!

prince harry Meghan Markle early romance tell all

The first few months of a new relationship can feel truly magical — and in this case, fit for a prince!

The new tell-all Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family, by royal reporters Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, explores the events leading up to Megxit, aka when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decided to leave the royal family. Though the book seems to contain lots of juicy drama, there’s also some genuinely sweet moments from the royal couple’s romance.

In an excerpt published by The Times, sources close to the couple recalled the early days of the Harry/Meghan romance. Their first date took place at Soho House’s Dean Street Townhouse in London, where the pair spent nearly three hours getting to know each other. A friend told the authors:

“Almost immediately they were almost obsessed with each other. It was as if Harry was in a trance.”

They returned to the same spot the following evening, by which point “Harry knew they would be together,” the friend claimed. They added:

“She was ticking every box.”

Subsequent dates included a visit to Kensington Palace, a camping trip in Botswana that left the actress “completely spellbound,” and trips back and forth across the pond between their respective homes in Toronto and London. Just three months into the relationship, Harry was the first to say “I love you,” which Meghan immediately reciprocated.

Awww!

But it wasn’t all romance and roses in the early days of their relationship. Royal courtiers responded to the Suits alum with suspicion and derision. Harry’s relationship with his brother Prince William was nearly frayed beyond repair after the latter warned the former not to be “blindsided by lust.” We’ve all heard how that warning was taken…

Innerestingly, this book reveals Meg’s friends cautioned her as well, pointing out the fraught history of marrying into the royal family. One pal predicted:

“Look at Diana … They hate royal wives and girlfriends. They will come after you.”

Hmm. Wonder who told her that.

The new relationship was also a ticking time bomb as far as keeping things under wraps — it was only a matter of time before the press found out. Though they enjoyed their privacy for a time, inevitably Harry was alerted that a tabloid would soon run the news. The prince was advised to return to the UK, but he refused.

The book claims:

“The following day Meghan felt somewhat bittersweet about the situation. On the one hand, she was disappointed that their secret was out. It was no longer just the two of them… She knew that keeping things quiet meant that they could get to know each other without pressure or further worries that came from reporters covering and commenting on their burgeoning romance.”

Ahh, the perils of young love. At least we know this story has a (mostly) happy ending!
