From everything we’ve heard, the exit of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle caught the Royal family with their fancy pants down.
Despite reports late last year suggesting Queen Elizabeth II was considering stripping them of their titles and duties, perhaps calling their bluff as they talked about walking away, this was still clearly a surprise to all involved.

So, what are they doing about it? Will the Royals fight the Duke and Duchess on this? Just the opposite apparently.
According to a Royal source spilling to People on Thursday, Her Majesty is doing everything she can to expedite the departure! The insider says the monarch called Prince Charles and Prince William to an emergency meeting of the senior members of the family — the remaining senior members we suppose we should say — in order to get this done:
“The Queen, the Prince of Wales, and the Duke of Cambridge have directed their teams to work at pace with governments and the Sussexes’s office to find workable solutions and this is expected to take days, not weeks.”
The source says they were indeed shocked — but they kept calm and carried on:
“This has moved from shock and a range of emotions to something more constructive. It is complicated. This is happening very quickly. And the proof in that is the fact that this will take days and not weeks.”
Days. Wow. In terms of this massive of a change that’s practically instantaneous!
What will the Royals have to do? In their announcement, Harry and Meghan stated their intentions “to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen.” So first the fam needs to figure out WTF exactly that even means.
Next, they said they intended to split their time between the UK and North America while working on a “new charitable entity.” That part apparently requires some serious planning as the source says palace officials intend to “talk openly with governments” on both sides of the Atlantic. And the word of the day is briskness. Per the insider:
“People are trying to work fast through these complicated issues in order to find something that works for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.”
We could learn exactly what Harry and Meghan intend to do next as early as next week!
